Bartholin Cyst

I am 43 years and was recently diagnosed with a Bartholin cyst. I was having difficulty sitting and walking due to pain, so i made an appt. with my ob/gyn. On the same day of my appt. my cyst spontaneaously ruptured and I had a light red discharge that was heavy enough for me to wear a sanitary napkin. When I went to the appt. the doc stated that I had a Bartholin (which I had never even heard of) that was a little over 4 cms and deep into the wall. He rcommended that I take sitz baths 3x a day for a week and return for a followup visit. Should I be concerned because there was so much blood in the discharge, or because he did not prescribe an antiobiotic? What should I expect for my followup visit? Would I be a candidate for a Word catheter or a possible gland removal? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
