I was on Penicillin V at the beginning of December, and Bactrim last week. I've been on combined OCP's for several months now, but have switched back and forth between Ortho-cyclen, Ortho-tri-cyclen. Is there any risk that the antibiotics will screw up my pills? The doctor didn't say anything about it either time, the Penicillin V bottle had a "consult your doctor" label on it, there was nothing on the bactrim. But I have girlfriends (nurses nonetheless) telling me the antibiotics make BCP's ineffective. Last I heard, there were only a couple antibiotics that had any evidence supporting that they interfere with the efficacy of oral contraceptives. What's the general opinion nowadays?
