Depo Provera and Pituitary adenomaFrom: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 8 Jan 2001 11:58:06 -0600 (CST)
I have been on the Depo Provera shot since August of 1999. In August of 2000 I began having milky discharge from my breasts and gaining weight at a rapid pace. I saw my physician about this in November and my PROLACTIN level was elevated, she also sent me for visual field testing which showed temporal vision loss of my right eye. I then had an MRI which shows a PITUITARY MICROADEOMA. I have read that Depo acts on the pituitary gland to block FSH. Since I had none of these symptoms prior to starting the depo shot I am starting to wonder if any others have been diagnosed with Pituitary adenoma after being on Depo and if there is a link between the two? Do you know if there is?
