Atypical hyperplasia questionFrom: jojo (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 31 Dec 2000 14:24:08 -0600 (CST)
I had 2 days of very light spotting (first day in the morning only, the second day it lasted most of the day) It has been about 17 months since my last periond (age 56) and I am not on HRT. About 10 days before the spotting, my breast/nipples were very sore and tender as they used to be when I was expecting my period before menopause. My dr. did a biopsy that revealed mild atypical hyperplasia and a d&c is scheduled for this week. He was rather upset at me for not being on HRT, but I never experienced hot flashes or other menopausal symptons. He said HRT would have prevented this problem, but had never mentioned this in any previous exams. I just wonder how serious this problem is and can it be cured or controlled by HRT? Thanks for any input.
