This is one of three things: a normal intrauterine pregnancy but earlier than you thought, a miscarriage that has already occured, or an ectopic pregnancy. The quantitative HCG levels will help your doctor determine which diagnosis is correct. If they drop to zero, it's a miscarriage, if they rise and a baby shows up on ultrasound, then it's an intrauterine pregnancy, but if the HCG levels rise very slowly, or stay the same, then it's probably an ectopic pregnancy. Although it's hard to wait without knowing the answer, it will take more time to determine which of the above is correct. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you. DAH
