Breast CancerFrom: JasonJones (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Nov 2000 01:16:23 -0600 (CST)
My wife was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer 1 week after giving birth to our second daughter. The cancer is pervasive through the liver and the prognosis is dismal. Two weeks prior to delivery, my wife was taken to the E.R. for severe pain in the right side of her abdomen. My wife's and the baby's vitals were taken and she was sent home. No bloodwork or tests of any other kind were done. Given this limited description, can you tell me if this was an adequate course of treatment for my wife's symptoms? Also, isn't blood drawn and tested during pregnancy. Would these tests detect elevated liver enzymes and white blood cell counts? Would these tests reveal any of the chemical markers of breast cancer which has metasticized in the liver?
