Switching from Alesse to an Ortho product or generic

I am currently on Alesse and love it- absolutely no side effects and I've never felt better. On previous pills, including Loestrin and some others, I had problems with headaches, depression, lethargy, weight gain, breast tenderness, etc. Unfortunately, my insurance company is switching formularies in January and they will now cover only Ortho brand products or generics. I looked on the Ortho web site at their product line and didn't see an equivalent to Alesse. Is there maybe a generic equivalent of a low-dose combination OCP with levonorgestrel out there? If not, any suggestions on which generic and/or Ortho product I should try? If there is a generic version of a higher-dose combination pill with levonorgestrel, would it be too ridiculous to cut the pill into halves or thirds to simulate the same dosage as Alesse? I really love this pill...and ughhh...do I hate formularies!
