One you can't cure HPV. Once there, it will stay. It can cause
dysplasia which can if ignored progress to cancer. It was not ignored
here but was treated in the standard recommended fashion. Laser is one
of many means of treating and is no better than the others, just more
expensive and glitzy. Freezing or LEEP or even just biopsy is enough to
make it regress or hold still. Many patients will have it be gone after
they deliver a baby vaginally. Actually even hysterectomy will not Cure
it. The virus is still present and can cause the same changes in the
vagina as it does on the cervix.
Stopping smoking is an excellent way to get the dysplasia to regress or
go away. 90% of all patients with dysplasia smoke. It suppresses the
immune system and allows the virus to do its thing.
