Marchbein, M.D.: "Re: Abnormal Periods, No birth control" I had an IUD (copper) inserted after the birth of my first child 8 years ago. Two years ago I had it removed. Since that time I have not been able to get pregnant. I am also experiencing abnormal periods which occur approximately every two weeks. Occassionally I will have a normal 28-day cycle. The flow is heavy for two of the 5-8 days is lasts. the abdominal pain, cramping, and bloating has become increasingly worse over the past 6-9 months. Any idea of what could be going on?
