Re: Ectopic questions (Long)From: Debbie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Jul 2000 14:42:06 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Lisa, I took the methotrexate with no problems whatsoever, but my Mom was cautioning me about it. She said it is new and experimental and I should just have the lap done. A friend of mine said she never would have trusted it because she would have worried that it would have left a little something in the tube...like not dissolved it all. Despite all that, I did it and it worked and I had no side effects...although...within 6 months my periods started to change. They were gradually getting heavier and longer. This went on for a few years and than I developed menorrhagia(excessive menstrual bleeding} and had an ablation for it this year. I always wondered if that metho had anything to do with this or not. I have read things from woman all over the net, that had tubal ligations, and their cycles were never the same again. Some went on to have an ablation, some a hysterectomy...and they wondered too if their tubal ligation had anything to do with it. I know that an ectopic pregnancy is so different than a tubal lig., but it seems as if whenever the tubes are messed with, problems develop in some woman down the road. I wonder if it has a connection?! That is why if I had the lap, maybe the outcome would have played out different. I was never followed up with an ultrasound or anything, which shocked me..but than again they never saw it on ultrasound so that could be why too. Great news on the HCG being down to 82:)))) I remember that relief feeling, and am happy for you that it is down;) Take care,
-- Debbie
