Johanna,
I'm also an asthmatic. I've had 3 surgeries due to endometriosis. For
the first 2, I had general anesthesia. The first one was fine (I was
living in Alabama then), but with the second one I had a horrible cough
from the anesthesia. I was living in Colorado at that time. For my
recent third surgery, I had a laparotomy, and opted for an epidural for
anesthesia. I had no asthma complications at all. Also, my asthma
doctor put me on a short burst of prednisone and a mucus thinner for the
surgery.
Don't let the asthma make you fear the surgery. You can make it just
fine with anesthesia.
I wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery.
