question about discharge and tampons

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and I have a question I was wondering if someone could answer. In between my periods I always have a heavy amount of discharge for a few days, its just a clear fluid (the discharge does not cause any irritation or anything) I have found that for me this discharge is normal, but it can be kind of annoying. Its a lot of discharge, but I hate to wear pads or pantyliners, I absolutely despise them. I would love to just use a tampon during these days, but I have always read (in the instuction booklet) that you should not use tampons in between periods. But recently, I have read some old posts on this forum, mentioning tampon use for discharge, I've also read on some other sites that you can. I was hoping a doctor might be able to tell me if it is ok to use a tampon in between periods for regular discharge.
