6 weeks, 2 days (gestational), 19.9 mm x 17.4 mm sac, no fetal poleFrom: Monica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Jul 2000 21:54:20 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently 30 years old and living in Latin America, and have just come back from an ultrasound appointment. The first day of my last menstrual period was 5/11/2000 which was nine weeks and four days ago (note that my menstrual period is very irregular and generally varies between 35 to 42 days). My guess is that conception occurred on June 3 or 4 (23 or 24 days after my LMP), although I am not certain. The results of my ultrasound (intravaginal) are as follows: Gestational sac: 19.9mm X 17.4 mm Yolk sac: 6.4 mm Cardiac activity: not yet observed Estimated gestational development: 6 weeks I am concerned that the fetal pole is not yet visible. Could this be due to poor quality ultrasound equipment? It seems that it would be difficult to detect the fetal pole based on the resolution that I observed. I was told that at this stage everything seems normal, and that I should return in a week for another ultrasound. I am very worried since this is my first pregnancy and I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks,
