Vaginal pain for 1 1/2 years... what could it be ?From: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 Jun 2000 23:02:43 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, Since Oct 98 I have pain in my vagina during sex.. and it has become worse since. I ignored it at first, but then went to get it checked in Aril 99. The doctor gave me Terazol ...and did a routine pap smear. Terazol did not help. Pap smear came back abnormal.. so that became the issue of priority. Went to a new Dr. who did a punch biopsy... and was convinced I had HPV. The HPV test was negative however, and my next 2 paps were normal. Meanwhile, I complained to my new GYN about the vaginal pain...she was surprised at how uncomfrtable/painful the exam alone was. I sometimes get a shooting pain down there...but other than that do not feel anything out of whack until I use a tampon or even worse, try to have sex ( which now is once every several months under the circumstances) At that point it is a burning/sore feeling which persists for sometime afterward. My GYN said she could not see anything wrong... put me on Cleosin and then another round of Terazol. She told me that if things did not improve that I should see a specialist in auto-immune something-or-the-other. Well it has not helped, and now I am just really worried. Any idea what this could be about? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks
