Post-op laparotomy questionFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 20 Jun 2000 22:51:53 -0500 (CDT)
Last Wednesday, I had a laparotomy to remove my right ovary because of endo. My recovery has been remarkable! I was able to go home from the hospital the day after surgery and have been recovering well at home. I guess being in shape and 25 has it's advantages. ;) Ever since the surgery, I have been having hot spells. I start sweating profusely and either need the central air turned far down or a cold washcloth pressed on me. When I feel this hot, my husband feels me and says I feel clammy. I have not run a fever since surgery. I am staying very hydrated, bowels are fine, pain is moderate and controlled by Perocet. The "heat" is enough to wake me from sleep, drenched in sweat. I take ortho/novum 1/50 back to back. My left ovary is still intact, doctor says no endo is visable anywhere. I know this is not a serious problem, but I was just wondering what is going on. I also wanted to thank all the dedicated health care professionals that devote their time to this forum. Taking the mystery out of women's bodies and empowering us with information is a wonderful thing. You are all saints in my book.
