Questions for Dr. Von Almen

Hello and Happy Fathers Day if you are a Dad!

I have a wonderful 77 year old aunt who has had 2 bladder suspensions. She had one 2 years ago and when she reached up to hang clothes on a line, everything fell out. She called me one day, because she had severe pain in her right lower side, around the area where her old Appendix incision is. I called my GYN, who was kind enough to call her back right away. He saw her, had a urine culture done ( neg. results)- had her straight cath herself after voiding ( results were always less than 100 cc's) - when he examined her, he thought he may feel an incisional hernia.

He then sent her to a urogynecologist- supposed to excel in difficult cases. My Gyn would assist him. He did not feel a hernia and did not think the pain is related to the prolapses. He is sending her for a CAT scan.

Would this show up kidney stones, hernias or all tumors? I want to make sure we cover all bases before her surgery, as I am sure they will do.

He also felt this came undone so soon because perhaps the other Gyn did not feel the rectal prolapse and this pressure undid everything. Any feelings on this?

Thanks again for your opinions. You have been so helpful. Anne
