Ablation to hysterectomy, need a few doc opinions from here...From: Debbie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 13 Jun 2000 23:46:58 -0500 (CDT)
Just want to get a few of the doc opinions here. I had an ablation done in Feb this year. It has lightened the bleeding...just what is was supposed to do, but my periods are still 9-11 days long! Frustrating! I am seeing my doctor next week again, and am asking for a hyst. I am just not too happy w/this ablation. I am 32 so I really feel this is not a cure anyway...just a bandaid to get me by a few years. I doubt it will last until menopause for me and I just don't want to relive that hemorrhage type bleeding ever again. If you had a patient like this, that had an ablation which did lighten the bleeding, but she was still not living a good life quality out of not trusting the ablation, would you go ahead and do the hyst? My doctor is trying to get me to wait a few more months...all that will do is prolong the inevitable. My husband is going to the apt. with me to tell my doc how I still live life around my periods, cannot go back to work for fear I will bleed heavy again, etc. I even saw a psychiatrist for this thinking maybe I was being irrational about this whole thing..she told me to have the hyst done as they just don't know much about ablations~the longevity of them~yet. So, I feel I made a decision that is in my best interests. I know there can be complications to a hyst, but that is the exception, not the rule and I am willing to take my chances and be done with this and close this chapter of my life. It has taken two years of my life away from me, all this bleeding, tests, D&C's, and now the ablation. I am done! Any opinions will be greatly appreciated:) TIA:)
