Ask your doctor to check for PCOD--Polycystic Ovarian Disease.

I went off of the pill in June of last year. I was on the pill for about 7 years. Before I went on it, my cycles were erratic- anywhere from 25 to 33 days. My periods were so bad that I was checked several times for anemiea (SP?). My cramps were so severe that I would get sick to my stomach and could barely stand. My doctor put me on pain pills- Anaprox- but those did not help. We decided on the pill to regulate my cycle- it was a day and night difference! My cycle was always 28 days with light periods and very little problems with cramps.

When I went off of the pill in June last year, I continued to have a 28 day cycle with light periods and just slightly more painful cramps- that was until last month. I was on a 28 day cycle but the cramps had me crying and doubled up into a ball. I also bled through a super pad in about 2 hours for the first three days of the period. Then this month I had a 34 day cycle and just started day one of the new cycle today. I was woken up around 5 a.m. crying and doubled up in pain with extreme bleeding- this is the identical problem that I had before the pill. I might also mention that my mother and sister have suffered from the same situation- even after children.

Could it take 10 months for my cycle to go back to "normal?" (At least what is normal for me.) My husband and I are planning to start trying get pregnant in two months and I am worried that the documenting that I have been doing on my fertility cycle will me for nothing if my periods continue to be irregular. My aunt mentioned endromitreitis (sp?) but I don't know anything about it.

Thanks for any input-
