my saga continues......From: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 May 2000 19:48:03 -0500 (CDT)
hello. My last post was this past Sunday when I had a temp of 102 only 5 days post op for an exploratory laparotomy for ORS and lysis of adhesions. Well, I did go to the ER after waiting for over 2 hours for a call back from my doctor. He was genuinely busy. Anyway, my urine was clean and my incision line was clear. My WBC were 8.3. They admitted with fever of unknown origin, and I was on IV Unasyn until my temp stayed down for almost 24 hours. Well, at least it was less than 100. My doctor used seprafilm adhesion barrier to wrap the bladder and intestine were I had adhesions. The ORS was found to the right of my umbilicus with a cyst on it. From the moment I woke up, but it has become worse I have felt like a 6 inch rubber band was around my lower abdomen squeezing it to death. I am now since Sunday having bladder spasms after I urinate which I increasingly painful since then. My doctor thinks the seprafilm caused all these problems. (oh, and for good measure I had a post op ileus). Anyway, the incision has been used 4 times. He left in the staples until Monday which was 6 days post op. No steri strips. I am home now (d/c from hospital last night at 9:00pm). I looked down and notice an approx 3 inch area on my incision opening and is about 1/4 to 1/2 in depth. No pus that I can tell and no redness.....just looks like raw meat. (excuse me). I have unbelievable pressure there, but my doc keeps telling me it is the seprafilm and the adhesion disection. I did put sterile steri-strips to my incision line. Should I be concerned about the pressure and the opening of the incision??????? thanks for your help.
