diabetic husband/sex drive

I have been reading many of the posts and I am quite surprised by the number of posts that say how their sex drives have decreased. When they discuss this, I am surprised to find out they are getting it a lot more than I am- and I thought that I was normal??

When I first met my husband, he was 23 yrs old and I was 18. We had a GREAT sexual relationship, but as time went on (now 7 yrs later) the amount of sex and touching decreased. If we have sex more than once or twice in a two month span I am excited. I know that it is not that he isn't sexually active. He and I have a pretty open marriage and he tells me he masturbates every morning in the shower. When we do have sex, it is good but no longer great. He usually ejaculates very quickly and it's a one shot deal.

A little background: he has been an insulin diabetic since he was 16. Could this have anything to do with it? I know that there is a large possibility that there are other factors- emotional or mental- but I am not sure how to approach this subject without him becoming ashamed that his wife is complaining she's not "getting enough." I have tried different ways to try getting him in the mood, but nothing seems to work. We only have sex when he wants it, even though he has said previously that I should just be more aggressive with him...

Any suggestions?

thanks ahead!
