Hi,

>>>...but when I use it I don't feel

that it helps much.<<<

Where do you do your painting? Also, you could try getting a stronger resp mask...did someone at a hardware or craft store recommend the one you got?

>>>Can this colour be toxic (a lot of people use it)? Or I don't have to
pay attention to this unpleasant feeling?<<<

I'm not much into using those types of paints, so I am not sure...however, I do know that craft stores, schools, new articles/shows, etc all recommend using masks to prevent against harmful fumes in paints and enamels. I don't know exactly what those effects are - I know they can cause difficulty breathing, coughing, nausea, and headache, but as far as long term effects....just not sure. You probably should call an art/craft or hardware store and ask a salesperson for some advice.

I wanted to add, in case you didn't think of it...if you have any pets in or near the room you paint in, you'd best move them someplace else. They are much more susceptible to fumes than we are. Also remember to wash your hands and clothes well before handling pets (or any of your own foods/drinks) as left-over residue can lead to contamination. A lot of people don't think of this, but its a good thing to be cautious of.

Here are some websites for you to look at, not necessarily acrylic paints but has some similar info:

1) This site's discussion on fumes and pregnancy: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health/WHF.9803/1156.html

2) Safety of paints: http://www.parentsoup.com/experts/sears/E112097.html

3) Someone with chronic illness questions paint fumes as a cause: http://dem0nmac.mgh.harvard.edu/neurowebforum/MultipleSclerosisArticles/ToToxi cologist.html

4) Some info on masks: http://www.vtr.org/maintain/gas-masks.html

5) This page is mainly for teens with "inhaling" problems, but it seems to have some information about paint effects: http://www.ama-assn.org/insight/h_focus/adl_hlth/teen/27teen4.htm

If you need any more, you can go to http://www.lycos.com or http://www.hotbot.com and do some searches. Try entering "paint fumes" and see what you come up with.

Good luck

Kas
