14 yr. old handicapped daughter still hasn't had a real periodFrom: Wanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 May 2000 02:05:57 -0500 (CDT)
My 14 yr. old daughter has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and other problems. I am concerned because she hasn't had a "real" period yet. She is matured, breasts, pubic hair, etc.. She has real light spotting about the same time every month. Not enough to wear even a mini pad, just a "little" blood when we wipe her at toileting. She is on Depakote Sprinkles for seizures, could that be causing her to be this way? I have questioned her pediatrician and nueroligist, they always tell me it's a blessing that she hasn't started and she's fine. I just don't believe them. She is an emotional wreck all the time, like P.M.S. What should I do, demand hormone testing or what? If it could be due to her med., what do we do about that? She definitly needs the med., only one that's controlled her seizures. This is a very hard thing for all of us, she is in a wheelchair and is mentally about 5 yrs. old. Lord knows she doesn't need anymore problems. What do I do now, wait, as they say? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, for this has been going on now for nearly 2 years. THANKS! Wanda
