Yeast infections and another condition called bacterial vaginosis are conditions where organisms that live in your vagina all the time, like yeast, take advantage of a situation to overgrow and cause symptoms. This is more likely to happen at hormonally vulnerable times, like menses, pregnancy, lactation, and so on. If the OTC yeast prep does not do the trick, you will need to see your doctor.
