Cramping after hysterectomy? Reply: William F. von Almen, II, MD, FACOG: "Re: Cramping after hysterectomy?" I have a question on why I may be cramping every month since I have had a hyst 4 months ago. I do still haave my ovaries and cervix. It seems every month about the time of my period I get cramping in my lower abdomen. It is rather severe. I never before had cramps when I still had my uterus while menstruating but ever since the surgery I seem to get it every month. Is this just part of the healing process?
