Cervical mucous during periodFrom: Karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 28 Apr 2000 10:51:06 -0500 (CDT)
During my last few cycles I have noticed profuse (and I don't use that word lightly) "eggwhite" type cervical mucous in my menstrual flow. It is dark red, but otherwise has all the qualities of fertile cervical fluid (very slippery and stretchy). It comes out at all once like a thick thread (on the toilet) and seems to constitute a good 1/8 of a cup or so. I read that this sort of mucous is related to high estrogen level just before ovulation. Yet, I am not getting this fluid then (when I need it), only during my period. Is this normal during one's period? Are my hormones out of whack mid-cycle?
