Large Ovarian Cyst...AgainFrom: Stacey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Mar 2000 23:28:59 -0600 (CST)
Thanks for all of your support guys! I had my surgury on wednesday, and I'm home today (friday.) I have a large vertical insision in my tummy and I'm up at midnight, not to be gross but, my intestines are starting to move around to get rid of gass pressure and that hurts a little. My 15 cm cyst wast caused by endometriosis. My large, infected ovary was removed. Also, my other ovary also had a cyst and was quite infected, but my doctor left it because he wanted me to be able to have children. I'm only 19 years old. He also had to clean off endometrial tissues from my kidney and bladder. All and all, though, I feel pretty lucky. My uterus is perfectly normal and I did not experience symptoms other than weight gain from this. Moving around has proven fairly easy. I feel better after the surgury than before as far as energy. (Less stress, I guess.) The problem now is that my doctor wants to put me on a medication (permerin?) that is going to put me in a mediposal state for about six months. (It's a shot.) Then, after, he is going to place me on birth contol pills. I have not been having problems with my periods, so I guess I'm a little wierded out by my doctor messing with my horomones like that. Is this a normal course of action for endometriosis? Do I have any other options? I'm going to research this further myself, but I just wanted to see if anyone of you had any ideas or could tell me what to expect on this type of therapy. Thanks for your time! You guys are the best!
