Self exam is posible, it is used primarily to become familiar with the "parts and pieces" and should be considered a medical exam. In the post from Mary Shoup she suggested a wonderful book "Our Bodies Ourselves" The other thing; if you are truly interested in finding out what is inside, how it works, or what it looks like, why not make an appointment with family MD, GYN, or local health dept. Let provider know you are interested, they can use a mirror, and explain things to you.
