I was wondering if anyone could answer a question for me on this.I had a hysterectomy with left salphino oopherectomy (sp) back in April 1998 .I developed an infection and was back in the hospital 10 days later with a hematoma that had to be surgically drained. When I questioned my Dr. on whiether this was caused by something I did I was told no! He told me that it was his fault, he missed a stitch during surgery which caused the hematoma .Would this be considered carelessness or Just an unfortunate mistake? Since then I have undergone 3 laporoscopies for lysis of adhesions(Greater incidence of adhesions with infection) for chronic pelvic pain and unfortunattly still suffer everyday.I was also diagnosed with endometriosis with the last surgery. Too try to put a long story short,After the hysterectomy and having constant pain on the left side My Dr.sent me to another gyn (outside of the group he was with )to get a second opinion and asked this Dr. if he would do a laporoscopy to see what the problem was .This was in August and the Dr. that gave the second opinion could not do the surgery until November.I practically begged my Dr. to do the lap. himself but he refused.I had put all my trust in him and could not understand why he would not do the surgery himself other than the problem with the infection .I considered this being very poor practice on his part. I do understand that Drs. have to protect themselves with malpractice but I really felt that he should have been able to help me more than he did. I am no longer with this Dr.He left the group that I was with in July 1998 and I had followed him into the new group but I returned to the original group of Drs. that I was with and I am now seeing the senior partner of the group.In September 1999 the Dr. that did the hyster.returned to the group that I am with.No! I did not nor do I intend on suing him at any time.I just feel betrayed by him and have trouble putting my full trust in any Dr. because of this.
