Re: Lawson: ectopics and HCG levelsFrom: DRoss38040 (DRoss38040@aol.com)Wed Dec 24 02:04:30 1997
In a message dated 97-12-19 15:57:54 EST, you write: << I got two cases 7-8k levels and no heartbeat.... negative adnexa, small fundal fluid collections ??dicidual ring........so now what.... Lab says .... U/S should see the cardiac activity, if not they must be off... we say we just calls them as we sees them, thank you for the slam, you must be all knowing and right.....(not my words exactly:-)).... rising levels no cardiac activity....must be ectopic.... not exactly In these two cases twin IUP's were discovered subsequently.... We fought hard the methyltrexate route and won.... Some kids will never know how close they were ;-) My belief was that the twins register higher levels earlier.... anyone got a spin on this????
Mark Lawson -- Texas
>> Thanks Mark! I've heard that this problem includes the 1,000 level, too. Someone told me about triplets with no visualization at 1,000 BHCG level. Which means that it is all the more important to visualize the ectopic to call it. Diana Ross, RDMS, RT

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
