Too much independence is a big problem as you are saying.... but too little is bad, too. Believe me! Your situation is just what Dr. Copel is talking about. This is definitely an abuse of the patient's inability to complain. But don't you think they went overboard to remedy this situation? And does their new regulation take into account that these doctors will no longer service these patients and so they will have to do without? Or go to the emergency room! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
