cardiac activity is 30,000 IU. however, medicine is like life - few always
and fewer nevers. had one case where HCG was 31,000 and no iup was seen. pt
was scanned 3 days later ( was asymptomatic and s/p IVF). at that time 3 IUG
sacs were identified. all 3 kids have finished 1st grade now. :)
>> Hi! Thanks for your informative post. Really good info, esp. about the 3 sacs. That is something to remember about HCG numbers. So 1,000 can be a problem in the case of mult. gestations... I never thought of this. All the more reason to re-scan when IUP isn't seen, but no ectopic is seen either! Thanks again... Diana Ross, RT, RDMS

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
