Dear Ellison, Dear Frank,

I would like to correct Ellison in that she told you to keep up the good work. We only have your word that you do good work. I would correct it to hopefully keeep up the good work. I have known many Doctors who claim to do good work until a qualified sonographer observes them work or we would review their films and studies.

Pardon me if I seem overly critical. The problem I have is that a practicing physician could not get the experience of a full time sonographer who does nothing but technical component of ultrasound. I have worked with physicians who have done fellowships in sonography and can't do the technical work of the "qualified" sonographers who I work with. Ultrasound is a technically dependent field and the more cases you do the better you get.

A couple of questions Frank. Would you let a cardiologist do your cholecystectomy? Would you let a radiologist deliver your baby? Well I would not let a physician do my ultrasound. One such fertility specialist did an ultrasound on my wife. After I repeated the ultrasound the surgeon had to alter the approach to my wifes surgery the night before she had it. Guess who made the correct diagnosis. It wasn't the doc.

One more question Frank. You never did say which equipment you recommended or bought for yourself.

Dave.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
