Re: amniotic bandsFrom: DuBose, Terry (DuboseTerryJ@exchange.uams.edu)Tue Dec 2 21:22:34 1997
Dr. Mamula, the images came through in good shape. The band or membrane appears to be a diachronic membrane of twin pregnancy to me. Didn't you say there were twins early on. It appears that there may be some fetal parts on both side of the membrane; obvious head on one side and extremities or umbilical cord on the other? There appears to be placental tissue at the base of the membrane with what has been called "Twin Peak Sign". Can you make out one twin demise? Now, if this is what this is, what to do? I'm not sure there is anything that can be done. With a thick choronic membrane between, the dead twin should be walled off and hopefully, the other will progress normally. Good luck, we'll see what others have to say. Please give us feedback on the progress & outcome. Bruce & Kevin, can we get these put up on the Ultrasound@OBGYN.net page somewhere so the subscribers can discuss these images? I am going to send you another set with a slight change in the image density (lighter). Peace, Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS; Assistant Professor

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
