Would you repost if you think it's of general interest? --------------------------------------- Reversal of Oligohydramnios With Subtotal Immersion: A Report of --------------------------------------- Five --------------------------------------- Cases. Thomas H. Strong, Jr. MD Objective: The purpose was to summerize five cases where subtotal immersion was associated with an increase in the AFI Study design: Five women with oligohydramnios, as defined by an AFI <8cm. who underwent subtotal (shoulder deep) immersion therapy are described. Results: The mean pretreatment amniotic fluid index was 4.9= or - 3cm. After immersion therapy was instituted, the AFI increased an average of 6 = or - 2.2 cm. In three subjects whose immersion therapy was discontinued, the AFI fell an average of 4.7cm. Conclusion: Subtotal immersion may help reverse oligohydramnios stemming from uteroplacenntal insufficiency. (Am.J Obstet. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
