Re: ULTRASOUND digest 2891From: Copel, Joshua (joshua.copel@yale.edu)Sat Jul 11 10:57:16 2009
Global fee includes everything: image acquisition, interpretation and preparation of final report. If you bill for professional services only (-26 modifier) that would also include the interpretation and final report. Billing a separate E&M code for the report is not proper, and unless there is an identifiable separate consultation (which in many states requires a formal request from the referring provider) a separate E&M bill can be a red flag to auditors. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
