Re: Sonography in the USA, current & future possibilitiesFrom: Trisha May (TMAY@midwestultrasound.com)Mon Feb 9 13:16:17 2009
Hi Terry- I am a vascular technologist in Cincinnati, Ohio. I deal with venous thrombosis nearly every working day. I often see cases where the patient is currently taking loads of blood thinners and can not tolerate any more but yet they are still dealing with the agonizing pain of DVT's. It is simply not enough to put in an IVC filter and expect the patient to deal with the pain. I think it would be interesting for you to explore the use of ultrasound to break up clots, hopefully allowing them to be more susceptible to the blood thinners and less painful for the patient. If you would not mind, I would love a copy of your presentation. Could you email it to me afterwards? I think the future of ultrasound is boundless and am excited to be part of an ever changing field. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
