Width of the ultrasonic pulse

I am developing an ultrasonic system for medical applications.. i want to knoew the transmit width of the ultrasonic pulse to be transmitted to transducer..

I am giving some specifications..

Excitation voltage from electronic front end components----50Vpp

Central frequency---8MHz

Single element piezo transducer...

Can anyone give me some useful websites if you know for the software design for controlling front end components using DSP processor....

Also useful websites for ultrasonic pulser design...
