I have just lurked here on this because as Art Fougner said I knew I would need my "Flame - Retardant Hazmat Attire." For me, abortion is one of the most difficult questions for modern humanity; unlike nuclear weapons which are obviously indiscriminant and bad, IMHO. Unfortunately the Declaration of Independence is a historical document with no legal standing. And my reading of all of the 14th amendment to the Constitution, one must be born for the "...nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property" to apply. Having said that, I remain ambivalent on abortion. As long as states are refusing to provide adequate, real reproductive education in our schools; Family Planning is denied; and 80%+ of our violent criminals in prison were abused as children (can I assume that is a measure of whether the child was wanted in the first place?), I must say that I will leave the decision of abortion to the parent(s). And that decision primarily with the mother unless the father posts a bond to assure care for the child until adulthood. There is no doubt for me that a fetus is a person, but I am not willing to act on the behalf of God and require a woman to carry a pregnancy she does not want. This is a very difficult issue, especially since not everyone believes in a God. But, I want no 3rd party intermediaries between me and my Creator, and I give that same responsibility to all others. This is between the parents and their Maker, IMHO... and should not be a matter of law. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
