I have recently discovered that as a child I was sexually abused. I don't remember many details, so I'm not sure if there was ever actual intercourse. One of my friends said that I would know if there was intercourse by finding out if my hymen was broken or not. Could this be acurate way of telling? The complication to this is that I had surgery 3 years ago to remove some ovarian tumors, but before the doctors figured out why I felt so sick, they did a series of tests. One test was an internal sonogram where they put a camara or something up into me to look around. Could this test have already broken my hymen? Thank you for your time. - Deerfield Beach, FL

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
