Dr. Brideron, there is at least one FireWire connected sonographic transducer. OBGYN.net has extensive review of the USA Air Force's use of the TeraSon. It has a Windows based interface.

See: http://www.obgyn.net/us/us.asp?page=/us/feature/nco_mobile_ultrasound/van ce_mobileultra

Also, this site.

My understanding is that (in 2000) the TeraSon Windows interface was very specific in requirements, and difficult to install and get all the cursors, bells & whistles working together. Hopefully they have improved on the installation... especially if it is being used in battle field conditions.

I believe that there may be another system that turns transducers into a PC peripheral, but I don't know the name. Seems there may have been one from Russia?

Please let us know what else you find. Good luck.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
