Dr. Galkin, first let me point out that I am not a physician (Dr.), but a sonographer. As your question relates to sonography, I think that it will depend upon the measurement(s). Also, is the quantity of amniotic fluid normal? Generally renal pyelectasis less than 1 cm is not much of a concern, though other authors have used 4 mm as the upper limit. Also, there is some evidence that this is more prevalent in the male than female fetus. I will post your question to the Ultrasound@OBGYN.net and see what others think. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
