Hi all, I can see Joe has been into the debate on 4D and everyone has his opinion. I have mine too. Way back in days of X Rays and Tomography no one wanted to be a radiologist because of the radiation and the complicity of reporting the Xrays. The advent of super imaging in form of Ultrasound and CT scans suddenly allowed a newer perspective to all physicians - what happened? Suddenly Cardiologists wanted to do their own Echos, Gynecologists wanted to do their OB scans and Neurologists reported their own CT scans - its because it was easy now to see. Recent advances in imaging have now given a greater confidence level to even non medical people to understand the anatomy and pathology - therein lies the fact that more people have jumped into the bandwagon of imaging. The more the Science evolves and makes things simpler the more its is going to be used by a larger part of society and more boundaries on its regulated uses are going to crumble. You cant have laws to stop this, Laws may infact make it more popular and expensive by giving it a "Exotic, only for few" picture. I think finally it is going to be a situation where everyone has a car but a few know how to drive - the others will exist but soon the public will know the difference between commercial approach and the medical approach to ultrasounds. Educating the public therein lies the key. (smile) I rest my case ! Dr Nirvikar Dahiya, India

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
