Re: 4D IMAGING

Hi,

Thank you for reminding me of this simple fact. Bonding is an established and quite legitimate benefit of ultrasonography that outweighs ALARA and all credentialling, and which may legitimately checkmate all attempts to defeat the hucksters in this area.

The ability to see and understand the complexity of the fetus one nurtures may help women choose life over abortion.

I was wrong. As long a s there is no established harm, and the power levels are within FDA acceptable ranges, there should be absolutely no restrictions on ultrasonography. Most of the innovations we have been able to make have been the result of technical improvements and those pioneers who were able to break new ground with them.

I remember the first time I "gloved" a 5MHz GE phase array sector to use as a vaginal probe - years before GE got around to making one.

I do not think that marketing 4D ultrasound with no proven diagnostic benefit is ethical however. It creates the illusion of better without the facts.

Otherwise I completely retract what I said, and will speak no more about quality or credentialing. Let the plaintiff's attorneys sort out the marketplace.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
