Re: Report Writers for UltrasoundFrom: DuBose, Terry (DuboseTerryJ@uams.edu)Wed Feb 20 08:35:42 2002
Dr. Jeanty... I agree that many of the reporting software programs have been outrageously overpriced. However, I would like to point out that I started out asking $50.00 in 1986 for BASIC BABY (BBII), but raised it to $200.00 because people suggested that they did not think it would be worth anything if it were priced so cheaply. BASIC BABY is still the only software that allows true 3D fetal head measurements, the embryonic heart rate for age estimates, and up to 12 parameters for fetal size/age analysis (depending on the time in gestation). The BBII Age Range Analysis is also a unique time-series symbolic histographic technique that allows visual assessment of multiple fetal parameters' proportions at a single glance without a confusing array of graphs. The down side is I have never taken the time to up-grade to "pretty" Windows... it is still a clunky DOS ASCII program, and lacks many reporting items and features that should be added. For more information please see: http://www.io.com/~dubose/bbii.html I have a beta version of BBIII that includes renal, liver, and most of the other measurements that I was able find (including all of your long bones). However, the program became too large for the DOS BASIC programming language in the 1990's and I simply did not have time to complete it, and never learned Visual Basic for a Windows version. The point is that not all of us who have worked on developing software solutions to obstetrical sonography charged $100,000+ or even the $15,000 that some well known folks asked. Peace, Terry J. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
