The slightest stimulation can cause the uterus to contract (note: this does not necessarily mean going into labor which is defined at uterine contractions with cervical change.) But more serious conditions can cause these cramps such as a urinary tract infection, uterine infection, preterm labor or placental bleeding. Not to alarm you but do get this checked out by your OB.
