Update + one last question (please help! Embryo too small for duration precnancy)

Unfortunately my HCG-levels dropped (10800 last week, 8550 yesterday). We went to the gyn. for an echo to be sure. The baby hasn't grown but there still was a heartbeat (slower than last time). I'm now waiting to miscarry.

My question is: How is it possible that the heart is still beating?
