miscarriage and luteal phaseFrom: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Sep 2000 23:22:03 -0500 (CDT)
I came off the pill four months ago and I started charting my cycles. The first one was 31 days and I did ovulate according to my temperatures. I then was pregnant the following month and miscarried early - approx. 4-5 weeks. I have had two periods since then that were only 25 days in length. Before going on the pill 14 years ago I had a regular period every 28-29 days. I am 31 years old and have hypothyroidism which is treated by a specialist. I know I have been ovulating from my temps while charting but I only had about 8 days after ovulating before my period came for the past two months. I am concerned if I should become pregnant that this could result in miscarriage because of a lack of horomones. Could this short luteal phase be due to the miscarriage, the pill or thyroid? Could my miscarriage have been caused by any of the above? My husband and I want to try again soon but we are afraid we will miscarry again. I have a doctor appointment on the 20th of Oct. but I feel like I need info now if this is possible. My mother had early menopause at 37 which is another reason for my urgency. This was my first pregnancy. If anyone out there can offer any answers I would greatly appreciate it.
