My 32 year old daughter recently gave birth to her first child, a girl who was diagnosed with holoprosencephaly after she was born. The baby lived for seven (7) days. My duaghter is a diabetic wnd was on oral medication before the pregnancy. When she became pregnant, she was put on insulin for the duration of the pregnancy. This was not a "planned" pregnancy, she was on the pill.

1. Because of her history(diabetes) should amniocentsis been performed?

2. Would this anomalty been detected with amniocentisis?

3. Is it possible for her to have a healthy baby?
