I was in the same situation last March. At 10 weeks I found out that I had a blighted ovum. My doctor suggested that I wait a week or two to see if the miscarriage would occur naturally but she also said that I could have a D&C. She told me that with a D&C there is a risk of uterine scaring which could interfere with future pregnanies. I chose to let nature take its course. I started bleeding about a week later. I bled for several hours (much like a period) with very mild cramping. It did get intense for about an hour as I passed large clots but then the bleeding and cramping really slowed down. Even though waiting was difficult, I am so glad that I did not have the D&C. Please let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck with your decision.
