Hi Ladies-
I swear you guys can read my mind...I just developed this lovely red,
scaly, rash around my nose and was logging onto the board to vent about
it when I saw the Seborrheic Dermatitis thread! Amazing! Anyway, I am
thrilled that all parts of my face not covered with cystic acne are now
covered with this condition. I guess I will just have to put my
supermodeling career on hold (again!)...ha ha. It really is depressing.
I am trying to grin and bear it, but it is so hard to deal with such
awful problems on your FACE...kind of hard to hide, you know??
Holly- I think that your elbow problem is probably psoriasis. My derm
claims that any scaly rash on the elbow is usually that. My husband has
it...he applies two creams called Dovonex and Ultravate after
showering...it has completely healed. (His case was pretty bad and he
tried LOTS of other meds!) It is a prescription, so you do need to see a
derm...maybe your GP would call it in if she agrees with those meds??
I called my derm when this seb. derm. first developed a few weeks ago
and could not get in until next week. In the meantime, I have been
using Nizoral and DHS shampoo to wash my face...I don't think it's
hurting, but it doesn't seem to be helping either. The Balmex sounds
interesting...but have you had problems with breakouts from it? I am
paranoid about putting something so creamy on my breakout-prone skin...
I will also try the Scalpicin and Head & Shoulders. Sounds promising! I
have some Tea Tree oil...I'll throw some of that on it too and let you
know what happens. It can't make it look any worse...
Sorry this is so long. I am just so glad to find others who know what I
am going through. (Although I wish none of you had to go through it at
all.)
I'll let you know what the derm says. Oh, by the way I have been 100%
gray since age 22!! (I keep my hair colorist in business!)
